When people are talking about emulators and ROMs in most cases they are talking about ways to get access to games that they can't otherwise play due to a lack of the hardware or not wanting to buy the game (or in some cases not being able to buy the game to do region release etc.). But when people are talking about ROMs and emulators that is very rarely, if every, the case. If you own a switch, rip your own ROMs and use them and them alone in an emulator you are fine and doing nothing wrong.
The fact that you have to HAVE a switch in the first place to rip the game, and people are talking about using this as a method to not having to buy a switch proves that point. Trying to argue that there is a legal way to do it is just trying to find some excuse.
But again lets be honest, a overwhelming majority of the people here using / wanting to use emulators aren't buying a physical switch game and ripping a ROM of it. Sure ROMs are perfectly legal if you bought the game and ripped the ROM yourself.
